The archive includes images from Syria, Palestine / Israel, Jordan and Iraq from the 1950s and 1960s. The focus is on Islamic architecture.
In the future black and white photos of two "Syria trips" undertaken in 1951 and 1952 together with Alfons Maria Schneider (1896-1952 ), who died on the train during the second journey to the excavation site of Rusafa / Resafa in northeast Syria shortly before Aleppo, will be presented here.
On the first trip in 1951, among other sites the famous "desert castle" Mshatta near the Jordanian capital Amman has been visited and documented in its condition at the time with some photos.
