Uzbekistan, along with Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, is one of the five post-Soviet republics in Central Asia that has been independent since 1991. On its territory are the famous cities Bukhara and Samarkand among many others. The country has been visited in the 1990s and in 2007, 2021, and 2023.
